| 152x91 cm A scene observed within Toohey Forest Reserve on the south side of Brisbane. Among the remnant open forest species, we see the exotic form of a prickly pear cactus. Darting among the low growth, snatching small insects, are two Striated Pardalotes, a small native bird which often nests in cavities in the banks created by leveling ground for roads and tracks. The remnant forest here is in a constant state of ecological flow, as urban pressures, weather patterns, burning regimes and new species introductions all influence the population dynamics within it.
