Meet Rosie, a beautiful white cat who is a member of my sister's menagerie in the UK. Rosie is totally deaf, living in a world of silence. Those bright blue eyes miss nothing. Her gaze is totally focused, undistracted by noise.
I resonate with Rosie as an artist living with impaired hearing. Luckily, I'm not completely deaf yet. My impairment has led me to become an artist, for which I am eternally grateful.
Unlike me, Rosie was born deaf, so she knows no difference. She is content in her peaceful world. Her demeanor of calm intensity is beautifully captured in this portrait.
