| 101x122 cm A significant area of remnant and regrowth bush land, Toohey Forest Reserve is an oasis within the urban sprawl. A significant refuge for populations of native animals and plants, it is under continual pressure from traffic, physical disturbance, incursion and competition from weeds and feral animals, and the "island effect", which severely affects the viability of populations of less adaptive plants and animals such as koalas.
It is a special place for me and my paintings of it are to celebrate its beauty and highlight its fragility. |
