BETWEEN TWO WORLDS By Emma Rennie-hynes
Dimensions: 75x75 cm
Medium: Acrylic paint

This piece is inspired by the legendary Aboriginal actor and dancer David Dalaithngu (Gulpilil). After watching the documentary My Name is Gulpilil, I was deeply moved by his extraordinary life — his art, his cultural heritage, and the strength with which he lived between two worlds.

Gulpilil’s story, his deep roots in YolÅ‹u culture, and his internationally celebrated career reminded me of the power of identity, resilience, and expression. His presence on screen was not only magnetic but also a profound act of cultural storytelling.

Through this work, I wish to honour and thank him — for the life he lived, the path he walked, and the legacy he left. This piece is a tribute to his spirit and the way he bridged cultures with grace, power, and authenticity.
