A Form of Beauty By Jasmin Seychell-longfield
Dimensions: 29x43 cm
Medium: Charcoal

I’ve always been captivated by the female form, not just its beauty, but its strength and resilience. Combining graphite with charcoal for the first time let me play with contrast: gritty shadows against soft skin. Using myself as the subject felt uncomfortable at first, but also deeply liberating. Women are so often sexualised for being open and confident in their bodies. I wanted to admire the female form without that lens, without the assumption of invitation. This pose is mine. It’s strong, unapologetic, and a little cheeky. To draw myself like this is an act of reclamation of body, of narrative, of power.
