My Profile

Glenda Markwell Link

Art has been a driving force in my life from a young age, guiding me through both personal exploration and a professional career in advertising and marketing. My formal education in design principles has seamlessly merged with my artistic practices, grounding my creative expression in both technical skill and intuitive exploration.
Nature has always been my muse, particularly the intricate beauty of trees, animals, and the world around us. I find myself drawn to the way life unfolds in natural forms—whether it’s the bark of a tree or the expressive features of an animal—capturing these moments allows me to connect more deeply with the world I inhabit. While my work spans across pencil, charcoal, acrylic, pastel, watercolour, and digital media, my true passion lies in the tactile process of working with paint and pencil. These mediums allow me to explore texture, light, and detail in ways that resonate with my artistic sensibilities.
In recent years, I have made a conscious effort to push my boundaries and experiment with new techniques, styles, and subjects. The act of creation has become both a journey of self-discovery and a challenge to evolve as an artist continuously. Through entering art competitions and engaging with new creative avenues, I strive to deepen my understanding of my craft and express the ever-changing landscape of my artistic vision.
As a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society, I am part of a vibrant community of like-minded creatives who inspire and challenge me to keep growing. My work is a reflection of my ongoing exploration of nature, self, and the world we inhabit, always striving to capture moments that speak to the soul.
