Betty Sutton

Artist : Elizabeth (Betty) Sutton

Born, grew up, worked and married in New Zealand, moved to Sydney in 1998 then to Brisbane in 2002-where she and her husband are currently living.
Betty was interested in art from an early age but didn’t pursue it consistently until she had finished work and raised two children.
An active member over several years of several Art Societies both in N Z and Australia, Betty has held executive positions on many committees.
Betty is a self-educated artist, she has attended many workshops and mentored and tutored by renowned artists. She has entered into many Exhibitions and during this time she has sold many works of art, acquired many commissions and gained many awards in the Bay of Plenty, N Z, Sydney and Brisbane.
She was awarded Master Pastellist status in 2011 and awarded the Pastel Society of Australia Inc John Jeffery Award for service to the Society in 2012.
She studied for and was granted the National recognized Certificate 111 in Visual Arts (CUV30111) in Feb 2014.
She stood on the committee of the highly successful Inaugural International Pastel Expo held in Caloundra in Sept 2018. A 4 day event with exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations including International, National and well-known local artists.

She was awarded Life membership of the Logan Artists Association in 2023 in acknowledgement of her service and contribution over many years.

Travelling oversea on several occasions with her husband she is inspired by the scenery in other countries.
Betty is currently an Art tutor in all medias at Logan Artists Association Studio and thoroughly enjoys teaching and passing on her knowledge in all medias.
Even though her favourite media is pastel she regularly focuses on the mood and atmosphere of sea and land scapes, while continually challenging herself in other genre.
While walking along her own artist’s pathway she maintains no matter where she is, she will never stop learning.
