My Profile

I have always found myself in creative fields, including Architecture, Product Design and Photography, however, it wasn't until recent years (2022) that I picked up a paint brush.
I started by just playing around with paints, completing short courses and painting anything which excited me – weather how light shone through or reflected off an object, or just things which brought back great memories.
Initially I was painting quite realistically and following my references quite closely. I think this helped me build up my drawing skills and observations of colour.
Now I feel like I have moved into my ‘breaking the rules’ phase, where I would like to start seeing the energy of painting in big juicy brushstrokes, instead of meticulously placed paint, accentuating areas of an object rather than a copy of reality. I think taking these liberties in some way more closely resembles reality, including the energy and connection which I think more closely resembles our experience.
I paint primarily in acrylic and oils on wood panel and canvas.
