Building upon what has been a lifelong love of art, I've spent the past decade honing my artistic skills and establishing a steady creative practice. Though I still view myself as an emerging artist, I am very consciously learning, exploring and creating ways to express myself and inspire others. Art has become an important process for me in making sense of ideas and emotions. While I feel I have a lot yet to learn, creating is an immensely meaningful and rewarding part of my life.
Having lived in and travelled many parts of the world, I am especially drawn to the beauty of Australian landscapes and seascapes. Nature, colour, pattern, light and form intrigue me and, as I develop a body of work, these key inspirations are becoming increasingly evident.
My process is always guided by what feels right for the subject and I relish the freedom of using a vast selection of tools and materials. This experimentation often sees me working across mediums encompassing oils, acrylics, watercolours, gouache, pencil, biro and charcoal on varying surfaces that suit the marks and textures I want to explore.
Through my art, I've been fortunate to work on a large number of privately commissioned portraits and landscapes, in addition to significant creative projects including large billboards for Sunshine Plaza, a huge mural at a private residence, an historical "story" of a prominent business and a five-piece series for a significant community hub. Perhaps my proudest artistic achievements to date however, was being part of the Emerging Artist Exhibition at Caboolture Art Gallery. |
