| I’m a monochromatic artist creating moody, surreal portraits that explore solitude and loneliness. I’ve been making art since childhood. After migrating from Russia to Australia as a teenager, I found myself unable to speak the language and completely unprepared for the cultural shift. The result was a prolonged period of isolation and disconnection that still informs my work. I studied fine art and art history in Melbourne but eventually stepped away from the art world and turned to hairdressing as a way to learn how to connect with people. After a long pause, I'm returning to art with a clearer sense of purpose. |
