Joy retired from a long nursing career in 2019, and now works part-time as an artist and a disability support worker.
She completed an artist residency in Adelaide in 2018 honing her skills in painting realistic florals.
Since then, her genre has expanded, and she now draws and paints animals, portraits, landscapes and abstracts inspired by the bark of eucalyptus trees.
Her love of colour, harmony and attention to detail result in lush, intricate paintings that are popular for both the home and office space.
A selection of her artwork hangs over three floors in a prestigious boutique hotel, Ovolo, The Valley, Brisbane.
Joy has successfully completed multiple commissions since 2018 and her art hangs in homes both in Australia and abroad.
She hosts a private Wednesday morning social art group and also teaches art to private clients and at Help Enterprise Sunnybank Hub to young adults with disabilities.
She runs painting workshops details of which can be found on her website.
Most recently Joy was a finalist in the prestigious Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular, her work on show in Grand Plaza One in Brisbane.
