Joy retired from a long nursing career in 2019, and now works as an artist and a part-time disability support worker.

She completed an artist residency in Adelaide in 2018 honing her skills in painting realistic florals.
Since then, her genre has expanded, and she now draws and paints animals, portraits, landscapes and abstracts inspired by the bark of eucalyptus trees.

Her love of colour, harmony and attention to detail result in lush, intricate paintings that are popular for both the home and offices.

A selection of her artwork hangs over three floors in a prestigious boutique hotel, Ovolo, The Valley, Brisbane.

Joy has successfully completed multiple commissions since 2018 and enjoys creating unique art from personal requests.

She hosts a private Thursday morning social art group at her home in Crestmead.

Joy is a permanent art teacher at the Logan Artists Association, classes are every Thursday evening. She also teaches art to private clients.

At Help Enterprise Hub at Sunnybank, Joy helps young adults with developmental disabilities enjoy their weekly art class, teaching them a variety of techniques.

Once a year their work is proudly shown at an annual exhibition organised by herself and her colleagues.

In her spare time she runs painting workshops, details of which can be found on her website and newsletters as they become available.

Most recently Joy was a finalist in the prestigious Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular, her work on show in Grand Plaza One in Brisbane.
