Aileen Williams

Aileen Williams is a Logan-based artist with a background in teaching and lecturing across business studies, foundation studies, and computing. Born in 1955 in Malacca, Malaya, she moved to Australia in 1990 as a student where she completed several Australian qualifications and degrees (Cert IV Hosp, Assoc Dip Hosp, B. Bus, Grad Dip Ad Voc Ed, MBA). After teaching in TAFE in Brisbane, she later spent more than a decade working as an expatriate educator in the Middle East and Turkey, including appointments at the Men’s Higher College of Technology in Sharjah, Dubai Polytechnic, the University of Wollongong in Dubai, the Royal University for Women in Bahrain, and the Bilkent International School in Turkey.

Aileen’s artistic practice has developed gradually over many years. She first explored Turkish ceramic painting between 2008 and 2010 while teaching in the university town of Bilkent, and continued painting as a hobby from 2010 onwards upon her return to Australia. Aileen works across several media, including watercolour, pastel, colour pencils, and gouache. In 2025 she expanded her practice to include acrylics.

Her work reflects a quiet attentiveness to nature, detail, and the gentle rhythms of everyday life - shaped by decades of teaching, travel, and experiences across cultures.
